- Step 1
To make aioli, place the mayonnaise in a bowl with garlic and 1 tablespoon water. Stir until combined and set aside.

Heat a barbecue hot plate or grill to hot. Oil the surface well and add the onions. Cook for 4-5 minutes until soft and browned. Remove, cover and keep warm.

Add the minute steaks to the barbecue, cook for 1-2 minutes on each side. Remove.

To serve, place steak and onions on the table, along with thick slices of toasted bread, tomato, salad leaves and garlic aioli. Allow everyone to help themselves and assemble their own steak sandwich.
Aioli is a garlic-flavoured mayonnaise originating from France. Children may prefer plain mayonnaise, tomato or barbecue sauce.
